Forestry Drum Chopper Rollers
Savannah Choppers are simple, heavy-duty machines, built either as single units in 7, 8, 10 or as a tandem machine in a 8ft or 10 ft width. They are used prior to plowing, in areas of heavy slash to speed up the process of material breakdown into mulch. It is important to chop when material is dry; on the hot summer days, or during winter frosts. In Heavy debris, it is often more effective to chop twice with about 6 months between treatments, using a single roller behind a dozer, or large 4WD tractor or skidder.
All Choppers can be equipped with optional bolt on reversible blades that doubles the life of each blade and a heavy duty compression drawbar that absorbs the shock load for improved wear and operator fatigue.
The high tensile steel bolt on stub axle and bearing carriers are exclusive to Savannah Forestry and built to ensure years of reliable operation. Savannah uses a Timken Locomotive Grade double tapered roller bearing assembly pressed into a heavy duty flange that bolts on with stub axles to allow simple bearing servicing without welding or cutting.
